2007 Anti-Spyware Review

AVG 7.5 Antispyware

Free is good right? Nope. Sometimes people ask us we don't review "this free product XYZ?" Well, with the exception of eEye Blink Personal, we have never found a good free product. In this review we launched our three chosen root kits at AVG 7.5 Antispyware.

AVG 7.5 Antispyware only detected threads of the resultant attacks, not the root kit itself. The attack left us full of pop-up windows, open outbound communication channels.

The security application would just continue to ask us what it should do with the spyware application brrotate.dll? No matter how often we clicked "Clean", it would continue to detect it and ask again as the rest of the root continued on it's marry way of installing other applications and utilities.
  • Cute Puppies - FAILED
  • Hot Babes - FAILED
  • Free Poker Play - FAILED
AVG 7.5 left us with a limping computer infected with CommAid, Enhanced Browser Overlay, Search Enhancer, and Smart Shopper. Absolutely horrible. AVG 7.5 Antispyware failed our 2007 Antispyware Review and left us worried about testing their antivirus product. Did we mention the "Rate my body" icon left on the desktop?
