Internet Explorer Vulnerability

Date: 2024-09-21

On Tuesday Microsoft confirmed that a group of crackers had exposed a previously unknown flaw in Internet Explorer. This exploit could be used by a popular hacker program called WebAttacker to compromise visitor's systems by leveraging the ActiveX controls found in Internet Explorer.

ActiveX is used to add interactivity and greater functionality to visitor's browsing experience. However, the technology also allows changes to the visitor's PC which can pose a danger.

Crackers often use a program called WebAttacker to leverage the ActiveX vunerabilites and install malicious code on a visitors PC.

The solution? Compromise interactivity on websites for better security by disabling ActiveX controls within your browser. Second, update patches released by the manufacturer regularly to ensure your system is kept up to date as many systems are being compromised on old exploits.

Another suggestion is to use the Firefox browswer which is much more secure than Internet Explorer. Check out Mozilla Firefox at: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/
